Tod'Aérs Board Member Fernand Isseri takes part in UN-GGKIC International Advisory Committee Meeting in Deqing, China

Mr. Fernand Isseri (Cameroon), Former Co-Chair of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) and Member of Governing Board of Tod'Aérs Global Network [TGN], took part in the International Advisory Committee Meeting of the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre (UN-GGKIC) from 17 to 18 April 2024 in Deqing, China.

The UN-GGKIC International Advisory Committee Meeting convened top international geospatial experts to deliberate on strategies for implementing the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF). The overarching goal of the UN-GGKIC is to develop capacity, foster innovation, and promote leadership and coordination to integrate and deliver national geospatial information policies, data, systems, capabilities, and services into the development policies, strategies, and arrangements of member states.

During the meeting, the UN-GGKIC International Advisory Committee members engaged in in-depth discussions with Mr. Pengde Li, the Director of the UN-GGKIC, to formulate the Centre's strategic plan and operational programme of work. The focus was on strengthening and advancing geospatial information management capacity development, particularly in developing countries, and enhancing knowledge sharing and innovative cooperation - via the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF).

Additionally, Ms. Maroale Mimi Martha Chauke (Chair of UN-GGIM Africa) and Antonius Wijanarto (Chair of UN-GGIM Asia-Pacifc) were selected as the Co-Chairs of the UN-GGKIC International Advisory Committee, reflecting a balanced geographical representation and diversity within the committee. The meeting also highlighted the necessity for robust knowledge sharing and innovative cooperation among member states.

As Tod'Aérs Global Network [TGN] continues to support the implementation of the UN SDGs through technological innovation and strategic policy advisory, Mr. Fernand Isseri's involvement exemplifies the network's leadership in driving global sustainable development initiatives. This aligns with the network's mission to support global sustainable development, technological innovation and socio-economic progress worldwide.
